Construction Estimator - Project Coordinator

Commercial Construction Estimator / Project Coordinator

📍 Brandy Station, VA (with travel to regional job sites)
🕒 Full-Time | Exempt

Pay Rate: $65,000-$72,000 Salary

About the Role

We are seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator / Project Coordinator to support the planning, pricing, and execution of commercial construction projects. This role plays a key part in researching potential projects, preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting bids and proposals, and helping ensure a smooth transition from pre-construction to project execution.

As a small to mid-sized commercial contractor, our work is hands-on and varied. Project scopes range from smaller service and improvement projects to larger commercial builds, with bid values typically ranging from $1,000 to $1M+. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working across a wide variety of project sizes and scopes.

This role is well-suited for someone who values both analytical work and collaboration — working closely with leadership, project managers, subcontractors, and clients to help projects start strong and finish successfully.

What You’ll Do

Estimating & Pre-Construction

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
  • Review drawings, specifications, and schedules to understand project scope
  • Conduct site visits and field surveys as needed
  • Obtain and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Identify risks, assumptions, and opportunities within project scopes

Project Research & Bidding

  • Research potential commercial construction opportunities
  • Support bid and proposal preparation and submission
  • Help evaluate projects to ensure they align with company capabilities
  • Track and organize bid documents, pricing, and revisions

Project Coordination & Handoff

  • Assist with project handoff from estimating to construction teams
  • Participate in kickoff meetings and ensure documentation is complete
  • Maintain organized estimating and project records

Vendor & Client Coordination

  • Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers
  • Support relationship-building with repeat clients and partners
  • Help ensure clear communication during pre-construction

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a commercial construction estimator or similar role
  • Ability to read  and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with construction bidding processes (RFQs, RFPs, ITBs)
  • Comfort working with estimating software and office tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Preferred (but not required):

  • Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Several years of hands-on construction or trade experience

Schedule & Travel

  • Monday–Friday, regular business hours
  • Occasional evenings or weekends as needed
  • Travel to job sites (up to ~90 minutes from Brandy Station, VA)
  • Occasional overnight travel for out-of-town projects

Benefits

  • Vacation Time after one year of employment.
  • Sick time after the probationary period
  • (10) Paid Holidays
  • Retirement account with company match after probationary period.
  • Access to company vehicle (pending insurability requirements and approval after probationary period)
  • Volunteer Activity Leave after six      months employment.
  • Additional Benefits include access to      employer sponsored HRA Account, Financial Wellness Program, and more.

Why This Role Matters

This role helps ensure projects are well-planned, accurately priced, and set up for success before construction begins. You’ll have a direct impact on winning work, supporting project teams, and contributing to successful commercial builds.
